He is Year 1 at school and he has his books to read over weekends. He is fascinated by words and wants to learn – but his idea of when he wants to do this does not exactly tie in with my own! Both my children (my youngest son is just over 1 year) have never been great sleepers and no matter how late they go to bed, they always wake up about the same time – anytime between 5.30am and 6am! I have started referring to them as my little ‘tiggers’ (yes, from Winnie-the-Pooh) as I have to keep telling them: “no bouncing before breakfast!” They are definitely ‘morning people’, whereas I am definitely not! So, my eldest son likes to do his reading when he is most awake (i.e. early), whereas I am more like the Guffalo (yes, the one from the children’s books) at that time and not very enthusiastic for anything except coffee. Fast forward 12 hours and it is a different story. My eldest son is beyond tired (yet adamant he is not tired at all!) and I am full of energy. Whilst I am ready to do some reading with my son, it is very clear that he is not.

It strikes me, then, that people are more receptive to learning at different times of the day and what works for one individual does not necessarily work for another individual. Even more succinct, for the learning to be efficacious the timing of the activity has to be when individual commitment and energy levels are at their maximum. Flexibility in accessing learning is, therefore, vital to this process – especially as organisations are demanding more return on their training investment.

Today’s learning environment caters for this, particularly for PRINCE2 training, with eLearning that can be taken at any time of day (or night), virtual courses to reduce travel time, and evening classes to avoid impacting your day job. So how do you choose the right time of day for you to learn?

If you work for yourself, where ‘time off means money-off’, or you struggle to manage time away from the office for you or your teams, then PRINCE2 evening classes are ideal. You can boost your skills and get certified without having to take time away from your day job or impact on staffing levels during the day

If you need to stay close to what’s going on in the office and don’t want to spend time travelling, then consider PRINCE2 virtual courses. They take place at set times on set days, so you’ve got the discipline of an agreed schedule, but they’re completed online, so you don’t need to leave your desk. With live online trainers and networking tools, you’ll still get the expertise you’d experience in the classroom.

If your job means you need to be ‘on call’ at different times of day or night, then consider PRINCE2 eLearning. You can complete the learning at your own pace, and in your own time – whether that’s 3am or 3pm.

So, now there’s nothing stopping you getting the skills you need to progress your career – at any time of day or night!

For full details of PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner training in your area see our schedule
